Julia Golomb

Associate

Julia is an Associate at the Consensus Building Institute, with 7 years of experience as a mediator, facilitator, and negotiations coach, and a rich background in domestic and international environmental management issues. Prior to joining CBI, Julia worked at Kearns & West in San Francisco, where she facilitated multi-stakeholder processes including coastal erosion and sea level rise planning on the San Francisco Pacific Coast, transmission line siting in the Southwest, and public review of the California Gray Wolf conservation plan.

In addition to her work with CBI, Julia coordinates the California Agricultural Mediation Program (CALAMP), which provides free mediation to the agricultural community in California. She previously led youth in urban farming and food justice work with The Food Project in Boston, lived and worked on a reforestation project in South India, practiced permaculture design in Greece, and helped spread a love of urban biking with the City of Boston Bikes Program. Julia is a certified mediator and has mediated in the Massachusetts District Court system.

Julia facilitates and mediates environmental planning and public policy disputes. Her primary practice areas include food and agriculture, climate mitigation and adaptation, water, energy, and land use and transportation planning.

EDUCATION

Julia holds a Masters of Environmental Management from Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, where she studied environmental mediation and facilitation. While at Yale, Julia represented the Union of Concerned Scientists at the UN COP19 climate change negotiations in Warsaw, Poland, consulted on sustainable agriculture and land conservation with PepsiCo, and served as a Teaching Fellow for Ona Ferguson's graduate course on environmental facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Vassar College.
