Cape Hatteras National Seashore Negotiated Rulemaking

With support from the US Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution, CBI is helping to manage a negotiated rulemaking process for off-road vehicle driving on Cape Hatteras National Seashore. CBI has been working with National Seashore staff and stakeholders since 2005, beginning with a negotiated rulemaking feasibility report published in 2006. In 2007, three public workshops have been held to introduce participants to techniques for productive communication and negotiation and to review the rules and regulations with which the National Seashore must comply.

The first negotiated rulemaking committee meeting is scheduled for January 3-4, 2008 pending final approval of the committee. The meeting will be held at the Avon Fire Hall in Avon, NC.
